About Jason Yang
Jason Yang is a high school student at Fairmont in Irvine. He was born in Hong Kong and came to the United States in sophomore year. He plays varsity soccer, helps as a teacher’s assistant in AP Calculus, and spends a lot of time on one question: why people make rushed decisions when they are tired, stressed, or under pressure.
That question shows up in two places. In cognitive science, he is a member of Philosophy Club and started a Sleep Hygiene club for athletes and other students, looking at how sleep and stress change focus. He is taking AP Psychology and writes about attention, motivation, and what happens to planning after a hard game. In behavioral finance, he competed with classmates in the Wharton Global High School Investment Competition and is building The Fine Print Guide, a site about traps in investments marketed to young people. He has finished AP Microeconomics, AP Macroeconomics, and AP Statistics.
Clear Mind Column is his school newsletter project: short, practical essays on sleep, stress, money pressure, and asking for help early. He writes the way he wants the column to feel—plain language, one keepable idea, and no claim that a student essay replaces a counselor.
